Turkey Red Oil aka Sulfated Castor Oil
Turkey Red Oil is very popular in bath products because it is a water soluble oil.
It is a reaction product of adding Sulphuric Acid to Castor Oil and was one of the first synthetic detergents.
You can mix it with an essential or fragrance oil and it will act as an emulsifier for mixing into other oils so it is often used as an alternative to Polysorbate.
Dark red to brown in colour and with a strong scent, please be aware of this before you purchase large quantities.
It can be used in soap making, but not as a main oil and not as an alternative to Castor Oil.
