Hazard Identification

Hazard code: 309111.  Note that the addition of tea tree oil to other materials , eg. Dyes, fragrances etc, may effect this product’s bacteriological/toxicological specification.  It is therefore recommended that each formulation and variant thereof be appropriately tested.

First Aid Measures

Inhalation:

Remove from exposure site to fresh air, keep at rest,

and obtain medical attention.

 

Eye contact:      

Flush immediately with water for at least 15 minutes.

Contact physician if symptoms persist.

 

Skin contact:   

Remove contaminated clothes. Wash thoroughly with

soap and water. Contact physician if irritation persists.

 

Ingestion:             

Rinse mouth with water and obtain medical attention.

Fire-Fighting Measures

Extinguishing media

 

Carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam. Do not use a direct water-jet on burning material.

 

Flash point: above 49ºC.

Accidental Release Measures

Spillage          

Wash away with liberal amounts of water.  Note that spillages constitute a slipping hazard.

 

Prevent from entering drains and sewers where possible.

Handling and Storage

Precautions in handling:

Apply good manufacturing practice and industrial hygiene practices, ensuring proper ventilation. Observe good personal hygiene, and do not eat, drink or smoke whilst handling.   Avoid contact with eyes and do not swallow.

 

Storage conditions:             

Store in tightly closed original container, in a cool, dry and ventilated area away from heat sources and protected from light. Keep air contact to a minimum.

It presents no significant reactivity hazards, by itself or in contact with water. Avoid contact with strong acids, alkali or oxidising agents.

 

Decomposition:                   

Liable to cause smoke and acrid fumes during combustion: carbon monoxide, and other non-identified organic compounds may be formed.

Toxicological Information

Acute dermal toxicity rabbit: non toxic at 200mg/kg dermally.

Acute oral toxicity rat: LD50 2.6ml/kg spf rat, 1.9mg/kg non spf rat.

Skin sensitisation: nil after dermal challenges (guinea pig).

Ecological Information

Expected to be biodegradable.

Disposal Considerations

Avoid disposing into drainage systems and into the environment.
