Definition: the volatile oil obtained by steam distillation from the dried, ripe fruit of Cariandrum sativum.

Hazard Identification

R10 – flammable liquid.

First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Remove from exposure site to fresh air.  Keep at rest.  Obtain medical attention.

 

Eye contact:  Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15mins. Contact a doctor is symptoms persist.   

 

Skin contact:   

Remove contaminated clothes.  Wash thoroughly with soap and water.   Seek medical aid if irritation persists.

 

Ingestion:             

Rinse mouth out with water.  Seek IMMEDIATE medical advice.

Fire-Fighting Measures

Extinguishing media: CO² dry powder or foam extinguishers.  Do not use water jets.

Special measures: avoid vapour inhalation.  Keep away from sources of ignition.  Protective clothing and breathing apparatus should be worn.

Extinguishing procedures: closed containers may build up pressure when exposed to heat and should be cooled with water spray.

Accidental Release Measures

Prevent from entering drains, surface and ground waters.

Cleaning: remove using absorbents then clean the area with hot water and detergent.

Handling and Storage

Normal hygiene practices should be employed.

Storage conditions:             

Store in tightly closed original container, in a cool, dry and ventilated area away from heat sources and protected from light.  Keep away from possible sources of combustion.

Precautions: goggles and gloves should be worn if there is a risk of splashing.
